“There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.” ― Michelle Obama

Across the Globe, We Are United in Our Dedication to Women ’s Rights!

Background and Rationale.

Restoring Women. Rebuilding Lives. Reinventing Futures

Across Africa, millions of women and young girls face the daily realities of systemic neglect, emotional trauma, and socioeconomic disenfranchisement. While numerous programmes have focused on “women’s empowerment”, many fail to engage the deep-seated challenges that prevent women from fully participating in society – challenges such as drug and substance abuse, depression, emotional and physical abuse, and a lack of access to rehabilitation and economic opportunity.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO):

  • Mental health conditions are under-diagnosed and under-treated in Africa, with up to 85% of people with mental disorders receiving no treatment.
  • Substance abuse is on the rise across African urban centres, with women accounting for an increasing proportion of addiction-related hospital admissions.
  • Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death among 15–29-year-olds globally – many of them women – often linked to untreated mental health issues and drug use.

Despite these alarming statistics, there remains a dangerous gap in structured, gender-sensitive responses. The focus on empowering women must move beyond rhetoric and towards real, measurable transformation that addresses the entire value chain of healing and development.

This is the urgent call to which One Project Africa Foundation (OPAF) responds.

Our Approach

Our Strategic Approach-

OPAF operates a holistic, value-chain-based model designed to intervene at every crucial stage of a woman’s transformation journey, recognizing that empowerment is not a single moment but a continuous process of growth, healing, and self-discovery. Our journey with each woman begins at her point of crisis, where we provide immediate support, safety, and resources to help her regain stability. From there, we walk alongside her through the path of recovery, offering counseling, mentorship, and skills training to rebuild her confidence and sense of purpose.

Healing is at the heart of our mission, as we understand that true transformation requires emotional, psychological, and financial restoration. We equip women with the tools they need to create sustainable livelihoods, fostering independence through economic empowerment, vocational training, and entrepreneurship support.

But we don’t stop there. We believe in unlocking the leadership potential within every woman, nurturing her growth from survival to influence. Through leadership development programs, advocacy initiatives, and mentorship opportunities, we empower women to step into their roles as change-makers—transforming not only their own lives but also their families, communities, and future generations.

At OPAF, we are more than just a support system—a movement. A movement that uplifts, inspires, and strengthens women at every stage of their journey. No matter where she starts, we ensure she has the resources, encouragement, and opportunities to rise, thrive, and lead.

01.

— Our Mission

To provide a structured and holistic response to the emotional, mental, and economic needs of vulnerable women and girls through trauma-informed rehabilitation, skills development, and long-term reintegration.

02.

— Our Vision

A resilient Africa where every woman and girl, regardless of her past or present challenges, is fully rehabilitated, emotionally whole, and economically empowered to lead a life of dignity and purpose.

03.

— Our Theory of Change

We believe that a woman cannot be empowered if she is broken. Healing must precede progress.

By helping women to:

  • Recover from trauma,
  • Reclaim their confidence and voice, and
  • Rebuild through skills and economic agency,

…we contribute not only to their transformation but to the social and economic health of entire communities.
